Have you ever heard of " Protest Art " and what exactly is it?
Protest art involves creative works grounded in the act of addressing political or social issues.
With that said, I have created my share of what I call “pretty pictures” over the years of flowers, still lives and landscapes; which are lovely to look at but don’t raise awareness about social or environmental issues.
It all started with the Tennessee Drag Show Ban. The new law passed in Tennessee makes drag performances a potential felony, and gives police new power to determine what is considered obscene. Repeat offenders can face up to 6 years in Jail!
Also some (not all) right wing conservatives claim the art form sexually grooms children and will turn them Gay.
Seriously?
"Drag Queen Pride" has been accepted in the "Colors" juried exhibit at Art on 1st in Roanoke, VA . The exhibit runs from November 30, 2024- December 28, 2024.
